SysInfo 4.0 NoFPU for Amiga Vampire V2-600

December 31, 2017 Amiga Vampire V2-600

The Vampire V2-600 (68080 AMMX) is an accelerator board for the Commodore Amiga 600.  As of this article the current firmware for the V2-600 is Gold 2.5.  There is no FPU emulation in this firmware, so SysInfo 4.0 needs to be patched to work.  Previous versions of SysInfo also do not work, so don’t even bother trying.  SysInfo 4.0 isn’t on Aminet but can be found here – https://sysinfo.d0.se/

Since stuff disappears from the internet on a regular basis, here is a link to the version I use – SysInfo40

On top of downloading the 4.0 version, you also need to patch the program because it crashes with no FPU.  The patch can be found on Aminet, but here is also a download link to SysInfo40_noFPU . The readme file in the patch says to use the spatch command found in the SysInfo folder, but it doesn’t exist.  Here’s a link to the Spatcher 1.0 program which can also be found on Aminet.

So basically, extract all three files into the same folder, launch a shell and switch into that directory and execute this command:

> spatch -oSysInfo4_noFPU -pSysInfo40_noFPU.pch SysInfo

The final program that works has the filename – SysInfo40 which you’ll probably want to rename to SysInfo to replace the old version.  Not sure if I have something screwy in my configuration, but even with the patch I still needed to boot from a floppy to get this running.  My results:

100766 Dhrystone – 190.48 times faster than a stock A600
